Hey!!! It's Friday!!!

And it's been busy! Curtis did an Avis run to East Glacier!
So that meant I was up early!
Boy, it was smokey out this morning! And that reeks havoc with my allergies! Yesterday, I was indoors working so not much chance of allergies bothering me.

But, I still headed out for my walk! Came home and mowed the front yard. Back yard isn't growing that much! Came in and cleaned bathrooms

I ran a few errands!

Kirsten and the munchkins came over after lunch. Harlee and Nic went in the pool! Coop decided he wanted to go swimming when it was time to leave! And it was cooler today, so quite pleasant sitting out on the back deck., as the smoke blew away.

We watched the Thunderbirds flying around practicing since tomorrow is the air show!

Putting up a few photos of Nic from his Boy Scout ceremony back at the end of May! He moved up a level. He is now a Webelos.

One little layout!
From when the girls took a road trip to Seattle last summer to visit Cait.

A Lengthy Sabbatical!

After a few months break of not blogging it is time to resurrect the old blog!

I have had requests to not stop from Curtis's dad who likes to see what we are up to and see photos of his great grandkids.

So Here I go!

It's been a busy spring! I

Curtis and I took a toodle to the Grand Canyon in late April!   It was pretty crowded considering it wasn't summer holidays!

Cooper also turned 4 in Mid April!  Golly- how can he be four already!!!   He told his mum at the end of the day he didn't want his birthday to be over!  How cute is that???

I had my gall bladder out the beginning of May and I am glad to be rid of that pesky thing!  It caused me some great distress prior to its removal!

In June we headed to the coast for a visit with Cait and to embark on a 2 week cruise to Alaska! It is great to really just unplug from life and enjoy the pristine scenery that only Alaska can provide!

It's been super hot weather since we came back! With days way up to 100F! Way too hot for this gal! Curtis invested in a bigger pool for the grandkids, which they have thoroughly enjoyed!

And the last 3 weeks the mornings have been spent at the pool in the high school with the boys doing swim lessons!

Still creating! Trying to get some cards ready to enter in the fair! I won't do layouts as they want only 2 pagers with 3 or more photos! Baloney on that! They gave no idea what is current in the scrapbook world!

Couple More Cards

Just sneaking in a post!  I know, 2 days in a row.  That is what can happen when I am not exhausted from working and just life in general.  Although, I do go into work for a few hours this afternoon to cover for a coworker.

Just spending a chilled out weekend at home!  Curtis even braved the grocery store for me yesterday!

Linking my cards with the Simon Says Stamp Wed. Challenge. Use more than one die or punch.  Not a problem for me!

Yesterday, I even had enough ambition to bake!  I bet you didn't know it was hot cross bun season?  I threw together a doz.  They are always so yummy!

Spring has Sprung!

Or so the calendar says!   The daylight hours are somewhat longer.  Yeah!!!  I hate the darkness  of winter. The temps seem to be warming up.  And I saw my first robins in the backyard a couple of days back.  I have heard them for a bit.

Monday past, Curtis and I did a Lethbridge run for passport photos.  Now to get the paoerwork submitted.  And do a little shopping.  The US dollar is great agaist the Canadian dollar at the moment.  We still tend to see lots of Canadian vehicles driving around Great Falls.

I have not worked any shifts this werk, which has been quite enjoyable.  Although I did go in for my evaluation and also some MOAB( management of aggressive behaviour) training this week.  And only a couple of short shifts for this next week too!  But I have got more than 100 hours in for this quarter to get the registry bonus.  And Social Security will not be happy with all the money I am earning.  They seem to think I should only earn a certain amount of dollars!  And I am not very good at telling work no, because I know how hard it is to work understaffed.

Got my biannual check up done at the dentist and have my teeth sparkling clean now,  and no major issues!  I am sure we have bought a cow or two for our dentist with the crowns Curtis and
I have received in our mouths!

Have been creating a card or two this week.  Have my Easter cards all finished up.  Wanted to enter a couple of challenges.....

The first one is with Simon Say Stamp Monday challenge where the challenge was to Layer It Up.
I needed to make a baby card for a gal at work who had a baby shower yesterday.  Here is what I came up with.
I love to do cards as usually the papers come out of my scrap basket.
And not sure who made the stamps.

The second card is for the challenge at Impression Obsession.
The challenge is (Not So) Moody Blues.  Show your blue projects.

I used their truck die(218-I)
2grass dies(178-C, 60-I)
Fir tree die(084-V)
Tiny flowers die(140-D)
Next time I will run the tree through an embossing folder to give it some texture.
Have a couple more to share tomorrow.

Quiet Weekend

That is what I am having!  After woking 2 - 12 hour shiftsthis werk I am pooped.  And the SOS went out again this morning, but I can't keep going at the rate I have been.  They need to hire more nurses for our unit.  They have let the staff numbers dwindle down to where there are barely 3-4 nurses on a shift.  So much, forvwhen we need 5-6.  People are burning out from working extra.  They need their days off.  And a full time person is already expected to pick up 24hours extra in a six week schedule. This was to be a temporary staffing fix that has not gone away.  I bet you don't see management doing this!  Enough ranting!!  As you can guess, I did not go in ths morning.

But I do have a couple of snap I took from my office on Friday morning when I agreed to cover a shift so a co- worker could spend the day with her mum. One advantage of working before sunrise!

I have been spending a little time in my scrap space slowly working on photos.
The first layout is of Cooper out in the snow, last month.  This year he has figured out playing in this white stuff.  The kids were off school and Kirsten brought them over to go sledding.  We have a small hill in our back yard.  It is awful come grass mowing season!

This second layout is where you most likely see Nic at our house.  He loves anything electronic and has a time limit set at our house!  I was cleaning out the scrap drawer with baby items to give me space for something else.  Figured these were good papers to use.  I like that the plaid kind of matched his shirt.

A Taste of Spring!

It's been a beautiful March Day!  Warm temperature(65F).  Sunny skies.  Kind of breezy.  It was a cleaning day for me.  Vacuuming!  Mopping floors.  I even cleaned the inside of our big bay window.

Harlee was here after school and headed out to get on the heavy duty pogo stick Auntie Cait had given her for Christmas.  She has out grown the last one. The new one proves to be a challenge and requires a lot more oomph to get it going.

And the word is out the snow geese and tundra swans are starting to congregate at Freezeout Lake as they migrate north to their nesting areas. We will have to make a trip.

What a fabulous week for my birthday to fall!

Last weekend, Curtis, Harlee and I headed out of town.  We headed south.  To Yellowstone National Park with the camera club folks.  Curtis and Harlee are members.  We are so fortunate to have 2 National Parks within driving range.  Yellowstone is about a 4 hour drive for us.  We made a short stop in Bozeman for some luch and were there shortly after.  It was a beautiful day on Friday.  Harlee sure didn't mind skipping school! Sometimes more important things can be learned out of school.

Lots of critters were out.  They were taking over the roads as opposed to the tourists.  Most of the Yellowstone roads are closed during the winter, but the northern road between Gardiner and Cooke City is open. Saturday morning was spent with the wolf research team.  They are very active in March following the wolf activity through the park.  They were parked waiting for a pack to come back to a fresh kill from the day before.  They never did while we were there, but it was most educational for the kids that were with us.

We came back on Sunday.  Followed by my birthday on Monday.  Woke up in the middle of the night with a throbbing headache.  These storm fronts moving through are killing me.  I received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from my sister.  And lots of flamingo stuff from my family.  They know I love flamingos and there seems to be lots of flamingo items these days.

Tuesday, Kirsten and I headed back to Bozeman to hear Sir Elton John in concert.  There was some retail therapy before hand.  Kohl's seemed to have a plethera of kids clothes marked 70% off.  Winter coats for the boys for next year were found.

Elton John played straight for 2-1/2 hours to a pretty packed house.  Glad he likes to come to Montana to perform.  And I was able to check one item off on my bucket list.  I have always wanted to hear him perform.  We had awesome seats- Row 19, on the floor. Obviously one could see him very clearly.

We cane home Wed. And managed to beat the predicted storm.   And yesterday I was at work renewing my BLS and now current for another 2 years!  Next on the agenda is getting my passport renewed.  I see a pn upcoming trip to Lethbridge.

Flicker Feast

Sometimes the early bird catches the worm or sees the flickers, in this case!

Still, getting up early, early!  Monday, I worked so that meant out the door a little after 5:30.  Yesterday, Curtis was taking an Avis run to Idaho Falls and needed to be across town to the airport by 7.

It was just starting to get light as I was driving home.  The sky was kind of pretty with the greys and soft pink.  It certainly wasn't a bright orange, yellow kind of sunrise.

I was picking up the kitchen snd I could hear those birds making noise out back and so,I took a look and there were all kimds of flickers out there.  I counted at least 7 and there could have been more.

Who knows if they will be back today?  Awake early , but don't have to be flying out the door.  Covering a couple of hours at work for a gal later.  And the wind is howling out there.

This is my layout for today.
Nic at swim lessons last summer.
Background papers are from American Craft.  I think one is from
Dear Lizzy and the other Amy Tangerine
The blue waves is a scrap. The black waves was a paper edge cut off one of those paper I think
I used American Craft Thickers and Bo Bunny letter stickers
The swim trunks were Carta Bella

Too Many Days at Work!

That is my motto for last week!  It is actually been wonderful to laze at home yesterday and today!

Too many days were soent st the workplace last week!  We shall see what happens this week!

I was scheduled to work last Sat.  After some creative staffing I agreed to work half a day on Sunday.  And then I went in on Monday to cover for a gal that had a Dr. Appt.  That was the start of the downfall. Also my hip was giving me grief too!

Wed. I had made an appointment to get my driver licence renewed.  Thankfully, I just didn't try and walk in as there was only one gal working in the office.  Another early morning as I was out of the house before 8.  But it is taken care of for another 8 years.  Next on my agenda is my passport.  Will be making a run to Lethbridge soon to get my photos.  They don't seem to be able to do it right down here.  At least, enough right for the picky passport office. So, it is worth my time to make a trip to Lethbridge.

Thurs. morning I headed back to work for a mandatory unit meeting supposedly scheduled for 6:30.  That was what was on the paper.  But, when I got there it had been changed to 7am.  I was fuming!
The dept head brushed it off when I said something.  It was a typing error!  Well someone needs to do better proof reading.  Nothing new was said at the meeting that I didn't already know.  What a waste of my time!

Friday, it was back to work early to cover for that same meeting.  I was there at 6 to take report with her.  Add on a couple more hours. And there was my week.

Harlee missed a couple of days at school mid week as she had the crud.  I watched the boys Thurs. evening so Kirsten could go to her P/T conference.  Yesterday Curtis took the big kids to the Lego Batman movie which they all enjoyed.  Maybe it will be released in time to give Nic for his birthday in
July.  This little dude loves trains, I think more than his brother.  And his locks are getting longer and his curls are returning.  The only one of the three with curly hair.
Our weather has returned to winter, after a lovely week of higher than average temps. Most of our snow got melted.  And now the cold and snow have returned!

Working away on the grandkid albums, now my travel photos from "DownUnder" are completed.  Have much catching up to do from them.

This first layout is Cooper fishing in the backyard last summer.
Used some old old We R Memory Keepers paper.  A newer Fancy Pants checked paper.A piece of scrap cardstock. And a scrap
I put through the Silhouette to get the border edge.
The yellow gone fishing was also cut on my Silhouette.
Did some stamping with an old Close to My Heart set.

The second layout from last summer.
Mostly got in my scraps to finish this off.
The letter sticker are Echo Park.
The popsicles are Carta Bella, I believe
The word sayings are BoBunny

Weekend in Seattle

I was lucky enough to be in Seattle spending time with Caitlin.  After having my first flight on Friday morning cancelled I was able to get out later that afternoon.

It's just good to be with her.  Miss her spunky nature.

She picked me up and we headed to the South Centre mall to enjoy happy hour at Dukes.  I had a yummy crab cake with a Caesar salad.  And a Moscow mule. Barely off the plane and my allergies were running wild.  It had rained earlier in the day, but by the time I arrived skies were clearing and there was a gorgeous full moon.  And gale force winds.

Saturday we puttered around. We went to Second City where there were a few vintage itens for sale.  Nothing we couldn't live without.  We stopped on the way home for some ant traps, as they have decided to invade where they are living.

Yummy bowl of soup at Panera Bread.  Took her over to Costco to fill up her gas tank and pantry.  Picked up some food for dinner.  Visited my favorite stamp store.

Sunday we met up with Kyle and his folks for a yummy brunch at Luna Park restaurant.

Monday she headed into work for a few hours.  We headed out for lunch when she got back inot far from where she lives.  And I headed back home Monday evening.  The weather cooperated wonderfully.  No rain!  Amazing.

Tuesday was Valentine's Day and it was warm enough to enjoy a couple of steaks cooked on the grill!  At first I couldn't find Curtis' card, but it eventually showed up when I unpacked a couple of things. Cooper was especially thrilled to have a five dollar bill in his card, his mum shared with me!

Yesterday we experienced a record high of 64F.  Wonderful for the middle of Feb and a nice break after all our cold weather.  one little patch of snow where the sun doesn't shine remains in our back yard!

And the princess is off with her class for a morning of skiing at Showdown

The valentine card I forgot to leave with Cait and is off in the mail to her.

Super Bowl Sunday!

But, we don't care much at this household!  We are really not football watchers!  We had Nic over for a while this afternoon.  I plan to bake them some Valentine cookies tomorrow.

We are under a winter storm watch.  Snowflakes have fallen all day, but nothing accumulated on the sidewalk. How can that be???  The northwest part of the state, up where Curtis'dad lives and Glacier Park are expecting enormous amounts of snow.  Like 2-3 feet!  That is crazy!!  We are expecting a few inches. And it's still cold in this part of the state.

The flickers were happy I went out and refilled the bird feeder and put out more suet blocks.

Curtis had a long Avis drive yesterday as he headed down the road to Idaho Falls.  There weee some yucky roads to start his day and he didn't get back until aroud 8:30pm.

Layout is from we did our tour in Brisbane, Australia.

Hello February!

My poor neglected blog!  Life has just been super busy!  Between working lots of extra, January birthdays, going to the theatre- it's been super busy and I have been lazy!  But a new month has arrived!
So I shall try to do better.
Not sure what the ground hog situation is today.  But we have snow and we have cold!  Winter can pack up its bag and leave!  And I now hear 6 more weeks of winter!!

Like I said, it's been busy with birthdays!
Sunday, our little princess turned double digits!  Her mum made her tsum tsum cupcakes for school.  There were a couple left over and they sure were yummy. And we went over to celebrate with cake and gift opening!

The next day was her mam's birthday!  Making this nana feel old!  I cooked up dinner for the crew.  I had a ham in the freezer that was might tasty.

And then Tuesday, I worked a few hours for a gal.  Then it was girls night out.  Kirsten, Harlee and I went out for dinner and then to see Annie at the theatre.  We don't get live theatre too often, so therefore it is important to take advantage of it.
